Accessibility Statement
MyGuest.Today is committed to making its platform accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
Last reviewed: April 2026
Our commitment
We want MyGuest.Today — including the owner portal and the guest guidebook pages — to be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for as wide an audience as possible. We actively work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
What we have done
- Semantic HTML5 with correct heading hierarchy and landmark regions (header, main, nav, footer).
- All interactive controls — buttons, links, form fields — are reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
- Form fields carry visible labels and associate error messages with the relevant input using ARIA attributes.
- Color is never the only means of conveying information; text labels and icons supplement color cues.
- Text and UI components meet the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5 : 1 for normal text.
- Focus indicators are visible and never suppressed without an accessible alternative.
- Images that convey meaning carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technologies.
- Guest guidebook pages are fully responsive and usable on mobile devices and screen magnifiers.
Known limitations
While we aim for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, some areas are still being improved:
- Certain complex UI components (e.g., the calendar date-picker) may not expose all state changes as ARIA live announcements on every browser and screen-reader combination. We are working on improvements.
- Some third-party embedded content may not fully meet our accessibility standards; we are evaluating alternatives.
- PDF or document attachments are not yet part of our platform but will be reviewed for accessibility if introduced.
Technical approach
MyGuest.Today is built with Next.js and rendered as a combination of server and client-side React. We follow these technical practices to support assistive technologies:
- ARIA roles, states, and properties are applied where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
- Focus is programmatically managed when navigating between views inside the application shell.
- Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
- The site is tested with keyboard-only navigation and with VoiceOver (macOS / iOS) and NVDA (Windows).
